We are producing a short video to introduce the SCL, for use on our website, social media networks, and any other promotion. We want you to contribute a welcome video in your Caribbean language.
It's easy! Choose an outdoor location, one that is iconic if possible. Use your selfie stick or tripod or get a friend to record using your cell phone. Make it fun and lively! All credits will be given.
DEADLINE: 15 August 2020.
HOW TO FILM YOUR VIDEO
In efforts to help you produce the best video possible, follow these guidelines.
Before you begin, adjust your camera settings as follows:
Choose a brightly lit area. Make sure there is no light source behind you. Ideally, there should be some light source on the face.
Do not shoot a vertical video! Hold the camera in a landscape orientation. Use the back camera. The camera should be at the eye level of the speaker.
Look into the camera.
Speak loudly and clearly.
The camera-person should stand at least three feet from you.
Make sure there are no distracting sounds around. Pay attention to the wind direction.
WHAT TO SAY IN YOUR VIDEO
In your Caribbean language, narrate the following:
"Welcome to the Society for Caribbean Linguistics - SCL, where we Celebrate All Caribbean Languages through Research, Documentation, Analysis and Publications"
By submitting your video, you agree to the following:
I hereby authorize the Society for Caribbean Linguistics (SCL) to use and edit the submitted video content - my name, likeness, image, voice and participation in and performance on film, tape or otherwise for use in the stated project above or parts thereof. I agree that the footage may be edited and otherwise altered at the sole discretion of the Producer and used in whole or in part for any and all broadcasting, non-broadcasting, audio/visual, and/or exhibition purposes in any manner or media.
